Shank, Rook
Rook Shank has always been interested and influenced by color and the elements of design. He has expressed his artistic interests in designing holiday displays both for residential and business clients. His expertise in staging homes to increase their sales potential has often been sought after by home sellers.
His interest in painting has evolved over the past several years as a result of attending both watercolor and oil painting classes at
Glendale
College under the instruction of Kathy Metz. Further study and work with Carole Buss and Margot Lennartz in the north foothill area of
Los Angeles established the foundation for his current work.
Rook now lives in the desert and is particularly interested in desert, land and seascapes. Rook has studied with Terry Masters, Valentina Ratschenko, and Doug Bunn. Most of Rook’s work is done in his studio at his home in
Palm
Desert. He is a Patron Member of the California Art Club,
Desert
Art
Center, and the recent past President of the Artists of Ironwood.
His works have been chosen for juried shows in the
Los Angeles and
Palm Springs areas and a number of works are in private collections. The paintings are vibrant with an exciting sense of realistic color and a personal style which is characteristic of his work. He has recently expanded his subjects to include unusual florals, portraits and animal paintings in oil.
